Installing PAM on a Network
Last Updated 8 years ago

Q. Installing PAM on a Network

A. PAM Network Installation.

You should have:

A PAM CD - Version 1.3.9 or Later

The quick installation steps are:

IF A USER IS TO SIT AT THE SERVER

Insert the CD into the server & install the PAM version you have bought.
It is not essential to indicate that you are installing PAM on a network for this (Server) installation… That is, you install PAM on the server as if it were a plain, stand alone installation.

IF A USER IS NOT TO SIT AT THE SERVER

There is no need to install PAM on the server.

Step 2 - FOR WORK STATIONS

If your Server is not shown on your workstation as a "Mapped Drive" then you must do this first.
Using Windows Explorer, open Network Neighbourhood, then open the Server…
You should see the servers C drive listed (and any other drive that has been Shared).
Right click on the Server drive (Not the PAM Folder but the DRIVE its located on) you are to install PAM onto and choose "Map Network Drive"… Select a Drive Letter from the list.

Using the PAM CD, commence installing the appropriate program on the workstation…
Be sure to tick the box that asks…
Is PAM to be running on a Local Area Network?
And choose the Drive Letter on the Server as your Destination Directory.
eg. S:\PAM

Please Note: If you have already installed the program on the server, ensure your destination directory is the same one you chose when you did the server installation.

After proceeding through the installation steps you will be asked a question regarding where you are installing

Choose "Workstation Installation" … Click Next
to see…

Choose a Destination for the Work files on the local computer… The default is C:\PAMClientWork.

Then click next to finish. Repeat these steps for each Work Station.

Please note: you will need a customer serial number for each user's station to run the networked version of PAM 2000.
